Recital 2018 FAQ’s

Q: When is Recital:

A: This years Recital will be happening Thursday June 7 @ 6:30pm, Friday June 8 @ 7:00pm and 2 performances on Saturday June 9th. 1:30pm and 7:00pm. All performances are at the Imperial Theatre 168 Christina St N.

Q: Do we need to purchase tickets to the recital?

A: Yes, they will be available for sale through the Imperial Theatre Box Office on May 1st. Exact times and details will follow.

Q: Do the students get to practice at the theatre before the show??

A: Yes, Dress Rehearsal will be at the theatre and will run from Sunday June 3rd-Wed June 6th. A detailed schedule of this week will be handed out to each child in class starting the week of May 7th. The schedule will have each child’s specific times highlighted on it. They will have a chance to get on the stage and run through their recital dances in full costume with their teacher to get the feel for what it will be like during the actual show.

Q: What show (s) are my child in??:

A: All Preschool, Primary and Dance Adventures classes will be in either Thursday night @ 6:30pm

OR Saturday afternoon @ 1:30pm. Each class has received an email with which show their child will dance in. If unsure, please contact the office.

The shows run aprox. 1 hr and the students will be on stage upwards of 3 times, depending on which classes they take.

-All students Level 1 and up : They will be performing in both the Friday and Saturday evening shows beginning at 7pm.;

Q: My child is dancing on Friday AND Saturday night, do I have to watch both shows???????:

A: NO, you don’t have to watch both. Unless you want to :)

Q: My child is only in one routine, can they leave when they are done dancing???

A: NO. Our recital runs like a theatrical performance, it moves quickly and is enjoyable to watch from start to finish!

*** Once the students are in their dressing rooms, they are there until the end of the show. There will be a final bow for the entire school. We also don’t have enough support staff on hand to keep track of kids leaving at different times. It’s easier and safer for everyone, to stay until the end. Send them with a snack and something to do. They will be well supervised. :) We have a system for picking them up after the shows from the front of the stage.***

Q: My child is only in one number, can they come sit with me when they are done dancing??

A: NO, See above :)

Q: Do I need a ticket for my child who is dancing??

A: NO. See above :)

Q: I want to help out with recital, what can I do???:

A: Great!! We are looking for volunteers to help out in all of the dressing rooms, to help with costume changes if needed, and to help maintain law and order backstage. We need lots of help, so if you can, see the office to sign up. Thank you in advance :)

Q: What about pictures?:

A: We have a “red carpet” style photo booth. There will be a back drop set up in the lobby that the kids can stand in-front of and get their pics taken by you! There isn't a schedule or a photographer, so you can take the pictures in whatever form you like and do whatever you like with them. There will be some fun hashtags to go along with the week if you feel so inclined to share them on social-media :)

***PLEASE NOTE***: During the dress rehearsals, you are more than welcome to take pictures and videos of your child dancing on the stage. However, as a courtesy to the dancers and fellow patrons of the theatre pictures and videos will NOT be permitted during the actual show. We have a videographer who will be recording the shows and they will be available for purchase, forms and info will be available shortly.

Pre-Registration for 2018/19 Dance Season:

Each year during Dress Rehearsal,

we bring our office to the Imperial Theatre and allow our current families to avoid the rush in the summer and register for the fall dance season early. We won’t have a schedule for the fall but do know what classes will be offered. So, you get first dibs on the classes you want. During the summer, when we have the schedule completed, we will send you your fall schedule and if you need to make changes, there is lots of time to do so.
