Triple Threat Theatre Program

Triple Threat Musical Theatre Program

This program is a musical theatre training class. This class runs weekly for 2.5 hours. Each week they will study voice, acting and theatre dance. The program runs from September to Mid- April and culminates with a full musical production on stage!

The program is divided into levels by age and ability. It is instructed by Eleonore Prokop and Andrew Colborne, both have extensive experience as professional performers and instructors. Our students can be seen on stage in various productions around town.

Voice:

In this section the students learn how to sing in a group. They learn how to listen, blend their voices and control their sound. It is also an introduction to vocal technique including a proper vocal warm up, breathing techniques and how to make a healthy vocal sound.

While the bulk of the singing is done in a group, there is also ample opportunity for solo singing when we start putting the final show together.

Acting:

This portion of the class is an introduction to stagecraft using various improvisational and teacher lead theatrical techniques and games. The students learn the skills necessary to navigate themselves on stage. They learn blocking, vocal projection, how to be natural on stage as well as memorization and script work all in a fun and safe environment.

Theatre Dance:

This is not your typical “dance” class where the emphasis is on technique. While that is very important, a Musical Theatre dance class focuses on furthering the story through the movement and dance.

In this section the students learn various styles of movement and dance with a focus on performance and story telling.

Previous signing, acting and dancing experience are not needed.

***Important***

The students who tend to have the most fun and get the most out of the class are those that thrive in a group/team setting.  Each person has a “job” to do and the others rely on them to complete it.

In this program there is a great deal of memorization of song lyrics, scenes/scripts, and dances. Students should be confident readers and excellent listeners. The program moves quickly and there is an expectation that, week to week,  they will have gone over their material and will be prepared to work at the next class. This means they will require some help at home with their lines and lyrics. The better prepared they are for each class, the more parts/lines/songs we can give them. It benefits the entire group.
