About the Dance Company at Great Lakes Dance Academy
Our dance company auditions in the spring each year. The company rehearses every Saturday afternoon from September until mid-April. The company attends 3 competitions. We have dancers from 8 to 18 years of age and present approximately 30 routines of various styles and sizes. We also offer a part-time dance company opportunity. These dancers learn 1-2 routines and attend 1 competition. They rehearse from January to April. Part-time and Full-time company dancers participate in the Company Showcase, which is held annually in April.
Dance Company Mission Statement
The purpose of this company is to develop dance artists through learning, perfecting and performing a variety of dance pieces. The goal is not to win competitions but to gain experience as a performer and dance artist. Competitions are a great way to validate our hard work and get a chance to perform for dance industry professionals, but the goal each season is to improve our skills and build confidence as dancers.

Part-Time Company
Our Part-Time Company is by invitation. Each year in the fall, after the dance season starts, we invite students who are not a part of our full season Competitive Company to join our Part-Time Company program. There are no auditions for this program. Invitations are based on the style and age category of the routines the staff have decided on. All students eligible to participate will be invited. (Example: For a junior Jazz routine, we will invite all level 1 and 2 jazz dancers.)
The routines will participate in one competition and our showcase in February at the Imperial Theatre. These routines will be in a variety of styles and age groups. This is a great way to experience competitive dance before deciding that full time Company is for you.
