Dress Code

Dress Code

It's important for students abide by a dress code policy for the following reasons:

  • A neat and tidy appearance sets an attitude of attentiveness and respect for students, teachers, and the art of dance.

  • Teachers must be able to see the dancer's body outline clearly to make proper corrections on posture, alignment, etc.

  • Hair must be properly secured and tied up off the face and neck for all styles of dance so that the dancer will not be distracted while learning.

  • Jewelry must not be loose or dangling to avoid injury to yourself or others and to avoid damaging jewelry.

  • Gum chewing is not allowed due to the danger of choking.

  • No bare midriffs

  • No jeans

 

Dance Adventures Age 3

Any colour leotard, pink tights, pink full sole ballet slippers. Dance skirts are
allowed.

OR

Any solid colour T-shirt, black shorts and socks; black ballet slippers.

Long hair must be neatly securely tied up.

 

Pre-School Ages 4-5

Black leotard and pink tights, pink ballet slippers and black mary-jane style tap shoes.

OR

Plain white T-shirt, black shorts and socks, black ballet slippers and black tap shoes.

Long hair must be neatly and securely tied up.

 

Primary Age 6

Tap /Jazz Combo: Black leotard and beige tights, beige jazz shoes and black mary-jane style tap shoes. No dance skirts are allowed.

Ballet: Black leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet slippers. Dance skirts are allowed

Acro: Leotard, beige tights (footless or convertible)

OR

Plain white T-shirt and black shorts, black ballet shoes and black lace-up tap shoes. Acro is barefoot.

Long hair must be neatly and securely tied up. Ponytails are allowed for Tap/Jazz and buns for ballet.

 

Cecchetti Ballet Ages 7 and up

Grade 1 & up: Any black leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet slippers.

OR

Black tights, form-fitting black shorts, dance pants or leggings, black or white solid colour T-shirt, and black ballet slippers.

Long hair must be neatly and securely tied up

 

Tap Level 1 and up

Level 1-2: Black leotard, beige tights or leggings, tan mary-jane style tap shoes.

Level 3 and up: Any colour leotard, beige tights or leggings, black oxford lace up tap shoes.

OR

Any solid colour T-shirt and black dance pants, black lace up tap shoes.

Long hair must be neatly and securely tied up, ponytails are allowed

 

Jazz Level 1 and up

Level 1: Black leotard, caramel tights or leggings/dance shorts, caramel leather jazz shoes.

Level 2 and up: Any colour leotard, caramel tights or leggings/dance shorts, caramel leather jazz shoes.

OR

Any solid colour T-shirt and black dance pants, shorts, black leather jazz shoes.

Long hair must be neatly and securely tied up, ponytails are allowed. Jazz sneakers are not allowed for the recital.

 

Contemporary All Levels

Any colour leotard and footless or convertible tights or leggings. Students dance in bare feet or contemporary shoes.

OR

Black tights or dance pants, black or white solid colour T-shirt. Students dance in bare feet or contemporary shoes.

Long hair must be neatly and securely tied up. Ponytails allowed, no bare midriffs.

 

Hip Hop All Levels

Any colour leotard or workout top, caramel tights and shorts or leggings, black sneakers.

OR

Any solid colour T-shirt and black dance pants or shorts and black sneakers.

Long hair must be neatly and securely tied up, ponytails allowed no bare midriffs, and no jeans.
